The pilates method was developed in the early 1900s by German-born Joseph Pilates, son of a gymnast and naturopath.
His technique unites body and mind to improve posture, strength, flexibility and mobility, as well as overall health, vitality and sense of wellbeing.
Pilates can benefit anyone and everyone, no matter what age, fitness or physical ability.

We offer two forms of pilates at BAYoga. You can enjoy studio classes using equipment or our weekly mat work classes.
Our mat work class is on Mondays at 11am with Heather, you can book onto this from the timetable as a course, drop-in or buy a class card.
Our studio teachers are Kemmi and Lucy, both fully certified members of the Pilates Foundation, which sets the standard for pilates qualification and education in the UK.
We work with people who are completely new to exercise or recovering from injury, plus sporty types wanting to improve their performance…and lots of people in between.
Some clients come to us with issues like back pain, osteoporosis, arthritis, sports injuries, scoliosis, sciatica and knee and hip replacements. Others just want to walk taller.
Our group classes are very small. You’ll spend time on all the equipment, doing a range of exercises to suit your own needs, at your own pace. If you prefer, you can find a friend to join you in a duet class or you can enjoy your own private session.
