Saturday 5th September 2.00 – 4.00 PM
LATE SUMMER marks the time when the vibrancy of the summer moves towards a more relaxed, settling energy, associated with Harvest. There is a quality of surrender and a sense of connecting to the earth or feminine energy more deeply. It is associated with nourishment on all levels and our relationship to the mother. It is represented by the Earth Element and reflected by the sweet taste and our ability to feel centred, stable and connected to nature with a sense of home.
We receive our physical nourishment through the Stomach & Spleen whose functions are digestion and assimilation. Along with the liver they are also deeply connected with the emotional body and the third chakra (Manipura) These organs also affect our capacity to think, concentrate and memorise. Imbalance leads to poor or excessive appetite, weight problems, cravings and addictions (to fill the hole), eating disorders, dissatisfaction, diabetes, bloated abdomen, stomach ulcers, varicose veins, excessive bleeding (e.g. menstrual, nose, haemorrhage, bruising) prolapsed organs, worry or obsessive thoughts, difficulty concentrating.
The workshop will focus on a yoga practice to stimulate the smooth flow of energy (prana, Ki, chi) through the Stomach, Spleen & Pancreas meridians (energy channels).
We will use acupressure points to alleviate common symptoms of imbalance and touch on how food and lifestyle can support the healthy functioning of the STOMACH, SPLEEN & PANCREAS
