About Debbie

Debbie has a passion for sports and movement after growing up in a hot climate. She supplemented her living costs as a language student at Sussex University by qualifying as an aerobics and fitness trainer, teaching classes on campus and the local fitness studio in Brighton.

After her degree she worked in computer recruitment whilst training in massage therapy and manual lymph drainage so she could give up office life and continue to explore alternative health. She recently trained as a Bach Flower Therapist.
She stumbled upon yoga over 20 years ago after a lower back injury when marathon running and triathlon training. Astanga became her practice of choice 5 years later.

Completing various teacher training programmes, she attended workshops with several renowned yogis before dedicating her practice to Triyoga London where she has been an Assistant to Eileen Gauthier at the Camden Mysore program for over 9 years. She has travelled to India to immerse in Philippa Asher’s teaching and is about to take her third trip back.

Her style has evolved from the strength and discipline needed in endurance pursuits. Yoga is mere exercise if there is no coordination of breath to movement. Breath control allows a grace to enter the practice as the body and mind merge to create an effortless effort on and off the mat…. ie it’s a life long practice!
