A mountain town filled with ashrams. Arunachaleswarar Temple, one of India’s most famous Shiva temples, has been a place of worship since before the 9th century. Overlooking the temple is sacred Mt Arunachala, the Abode of Fire. Many pilgrims and visitors complete the 14km (5-6 hour) walk around this extinct volcano, which is especially auspicious at the full moon (start early and bring water!). On the way you can see caves where Sri Ramana Maharshi lived and meditated (1899–1922). Other nearby attractions include the spectacular ruins of Gingee Fort, a popular movie setting!

Cancellation policy
Deposits are generally nonrefundable, but if we (or you) can find someone to take your place, the deposit can be refunded. If we are not able to fill your place, refunds are provided as follows: Cancellation 1 month to 10 days before Retreat, 90% refund. Cancellation 7–9 days before Retreat, 50% refund. Cancellation 0-6 days before Retreat, no refund.
