Lorraine Lavery

Lorraine began practising ashtanga yoga in 1999 and was immediately hooked. Since then, she has studied various styles of yoga around the world with an array of respected teachers and in 2010 she qualified with Frog Lotus International school of vinyasa flow yoga.

Lorraine finds the intensity of an ashtanga practice inspiring and enjoys incorporating aspects of the primary and second series into creative sequences. Although classes are dynamic, there is also a focus on alignment and holding some poses, allowing tight muscles to lengthen and relax. She has recently found a passion for yin, the perfect calming complement to the fiery power of ashtanga and vinyasa, and is bringing elements of this into her classes.

Lorraine is deeply committed to her personal practice which is the foundation for her teaching. Yoga has been a constant in times of change, helping her to stay focused, keep things in perspective, breathe fully, and embrace the challenges. Lorraine has been a regular student at BAYoga for a number of years and continues to extend her knowledge by attending a broad range of workshops and retreats. Her aim as a teacher is to inspire, support and assist students in achieving their full potential both on and off the mat.

Lorraine teaches our Wednesday evening vinyasa flow class at 7.30pm. Check out the timetable to book.
